I’m almost in a state of shock that I just hit the “send” button on the email submission of my (finally finished!) book, The Protector.
I’ve talked about it before, and it’s a story that has literally taken nearly two calendar years to write. I say “calendar years” because while I started the story in late 2011, I did not touch it at all over the course of 2012 (which was my Hiatus Year). When I picked it up again back in January, it needed a lot of work and also an ending. hahahaha! I’ve put a lot of work into this thing, and asked a lot of my beta reader. :/
I have been really worried about making this a good book. I think Dawn in the Orchard was a great effort, I’m proud of it, but I’d do it differently if I were writing it now. Writing is a practice as well as an art, and the more you do it the better you get (well, hopefully!). I think The Protector is a reflection of my own growth as a writer.
So anyway I’m a little in shock that this is finally being crossed of my “to do” list, so I’m going to have a lie down and maybe wine!
